Bold, Curious, and PeacefulBold, curious and peaceful, BoulderClan lives along the giant rivers edge in the rocks and caverns of the river banks. They may generally be the smallest, but they are still very bold, heavily following Starclan and the warrior code. Really though, these cats are peaceful chatterboxes, rarely fighting, if at all. But they are still prepared to fight when the time calls for it and never back down from a challenge. Known for their big paws and love of swimming, BoulderClan has an abundance of prey despite their small territory. They are more accepting to outsiders then their forest neighbors, but will not take in just anyone and test these new members heavily. Water

BoulderClan is found along the Giant River towards the south. Where the trees and grass end and large rock walls and formations are found. Many see this location as barren and inhospitable. But BoulderClan calls it home, finding crevices to hide in and having abundant prey from the water.

BoulderClan’s camp is a system of caverns and crevices in the rock walls of their home. The main entrance is found underwater, providing protection from predators and invasion. Flooding is a known occurrence and is well prepared for. Warriors take turns sleeping by the main entrance to alert the clan of changes in the water level. As well a second entrance is found near the roof, the path slanted and dry making it easy to use. This second entrance is commonly used by elders and those who have yet to learn to swim. It is blocked by small lighter rocks and brush that keep it hidden to outsiders. The leaders den is believed to be the hardest den to enter. An almost vertical leap from the camp floor, there are small foot holds on the heavily slanted entrance. Once inside the den levels out to the perfect size for hardly more then two adult cats. It is very rare for anyone outside of family to be invited into the leaders den. And not always an honor when it does happen. The medicine cat den is the easiest den to enter. Being almost level with the camp floor this den was designed to be the most accessible. Some cats don't even consider it separate from the main camp as it is so open. No cat is really sure how far back the den truly goes, little to no light reaching most of this den. The darkness has been found to help cats get the rest they need to heal. The very back of the den has many open paths that are too small for a cat to fit through, and while snakes were once a fear precautions have been taken long before to ward them off. These small cracks and holes are now used for herb storage. The warriors den is found almost at the main entrance of camp. A vertical jump similar to the leaders den but much lower and easy enough even for a kit to make. This den is wider then it is deep, being one of the darkest dens. Very little light creeps in through the rocks here, making it very dim but still manageable. The apprentice den is found connected to the warriors den, in a small crevice at the back. This was chosen to keep naughty apprentices out of trouble. With Boulderclan's high risk of floods and inexperienced cats drowning, there is a high need to keep apprentices from sneaking around. Apprentices are never allowed to leave the den without a warrior at night, not even for bathroom visits. It's not until an apprentices 8th moon often that they can even leave camp alone. The nursery is found rather high up in the caves. It is very far from the main camp, much harder to reach then the leaders den. Most often cats will have to leave camp and go through the side entrance to get to the nursery. From the side entrance it is almost a straight path, just a small hop to get to the den. The entrance quickly leads to a deep drop, an easy jump for a grown cat, into a large open den. There are a few cracks in the den letting in natural light, though most are stuffed with moss to keep out the weather. The drop in the den is designed to keep young kits from sneaking out, many a kit has tried and those who have succeeded have commonly fallen to their death into camp. Due to this there is a clan rule; "No Kit Can Leave The Nursery Without Mothers Approval". This is a very strictly enforced rule, that if those who have broken it live, are strongly punished. When a kit is determined old enough to leave the nursery by themselves their whole family gathers in camp and along the caves ledges watching. Ready to catch the kit if they slip. The elders den is found closest to the side exit. This makes the den a struggle to access from the main camp. But it gives the elders the easiest escape from the floods and the shortest path to the sun warmed rocks. It is very common for medicine cats to come to the elders rather then the other way around. This den gets some of the most sun, being the closest to the surface. The elders still find themselves useful to the clan, as they can easily give warning of any threats to the side entrance. |
